I've pretty much been shooting a lot lately, as we know. It's just the days are longer and I have more time to get outside. Photography is life-giving to
These past few months have been pretty busy. With working until past dark most days, I really haven't shot any portraits since December. But it's been pretty cool with daylights savings giving us more light. So I've been able to shoot after I get off work most days
Over the course of the past year, I've had the opportunity to document and cover the FACS Fashion show again. My sister, Janique directed it this year and did an absolutely amazing job, so when it came time for the actual show, I was pretty excited to see the final touches.
While I personally am not really informed with fashion (I had to ask a friend what a peplum shirt was haha) it was cool to see the creativity and inspiration of the designers and how they related their designs to things that were influenced by nature. Everyone has gifts and talents that are displayed in different ways.
Anyways, I wanted to share some of the shots that I captured from the day! It ranges from some of the prep shots and then the actual fashion show!
Okay, so a little backstory about this session. We had to do it twice. The day we schedule originally to shoot, as soon as we pulled up to the location, it started raining. Turns out it was some tornado warning I never heard about ;). So I basically only got maybe 12 shots from that first time. Last weekend was pretty busy, so we had to reschedule for this weekend. I'm actually glad that we were able to do it again, especially being that the cherry blossoms are out! =D Like I said in the last blog, I absolutely LOVE them. I wish that they were around all year long.
Anyways, Eve is such a sweet girl. She's from Ethiopia - so I love those moments where I have the opportunity to just hear about her culture, laugh and joke about American culture, but also just to be able to learn about our different perspectives. That's one of the many reasons why I absolutely love being around so many different types of people from all over the world. It helps sharpen my own way of thinking.
Eve is also gorgeous. Absolutely stunning and a natural in front of the camera. While I had a bit of poses from my own ideas, she still added her own flavor and had some ideas of her own. It was great!
Well, here are a few of my favorites from the session. Eve is also graduating so we were able to get some of her cap & gown pictures too!
Here's Kayla! She was on my hall last semester and moved into my sister dorm during the Spring. She is an absolutely sweet girl and completely gorgeous! She's pretty straight forward, amazing student, and has taken an interest in photography too. I do miss her from being on my hall! But was glad that she was willing to model for me this past Thursday.
Anyways, in light of Fashion Show weekend at Liberty - I rented a 100 mm 2.8 Macro. I figured that it would be best for me to test it out to see if it was something that I would love using and owning. Considering the busy-ness of the weekend, and the fact that I wasn't going to be using the lens myself for the Fashion show, I had to get to a shoot quick.
Kayla and I went downtown and got some pretty good shots! Here are some of my favorites!
